Fitness for Dads: The
Everyday Shoe

My name is Charlie and I’m a single dad living in New York
City with my 7-year old son. The
traffic to get around the city is brutal and parking fees are
astronomical. Working at home and
having most of the places my son and I visit frequently within walking
distance, I have found owning a car not worth the hassle and the cost. About the only time I drive a car is
when I take my son for hiking trips outside of the city. I’ve recently started noticing that my
lower back has really been aching.
I have my workspace set up ergonomically correct so I don’t think that’s
the problem. Then I looked down at
my shoes and realized maybe they were the source of my backaches. Do you have a good, quality athletic
shoe you would recommend that I can wear whether I’m walking around the city or
just going for a hike with my son?

Dear Carfree Charlie,

Owning a car is not all it’s cracked up to be. On top of a car payment, you also have
to pay for insurance, registration, gas, maintenance and repair. If you can get away without owning one
and avoid all those extra costs and hassles, more power to you. Since you are on your feet a lot, good
quality shoes are absolutely essential to good back health. It your shoes don’t provide adequate
support, it would make sense that you would be experiencing backache.

Multi-Purpose Shoes

The best type of shoe to wear to support your body while
doing a variety of different activities is a multi-purpose shoe. Multi-purpose shoes will provide
comfort for everyday walking, yet have enough grip for more strenuous
activities like hiking.

Full Circuit

Whether rambling around the city, going for a light hike or
traveling around the globe, Eddie Bauer’s Full Circuit athletic show has built
in exclusive technology such InsoFitTM Pro Insole, MidliteTM Pro midsole, and
SportGripTM Pro outsole delivering all day comfort with minimum weight.

Breathing Room

Have to travel with your shoes on the go? The Full Circuit also as an upper air
mesh which gives your feet room to breathe and lets out the foot odor making it safer to
carry around in your travel bag for those on the go, quick changes from one
activity to the next.

Wearing a good quality shoe with lots of support and
breathing room should help to alleviate your backaches. If you are still having backaches after
wearing your new shoes, consult with your doctor just to make sure something
more serious isn’t going on.
