My name is Eric and I am a 42-year old SingleDad with a
7-year old son living in Ohio. Lately, I have been slacking on my morning
breakfast. I am mostly like to eat
cereal in the morning because of the convenience; however, I have been burned
out on my cereal routine. Are there any tips you can offer me to help boost my
morning cereal that can make it taste better and add some nutrition?

Cereal Burnout

Hey Eric, no problem on your
question. A lot of Dads in your position have the same problem. We get stuck
eating that super sweet cereal that our kids love to have and it just causes a
huge sugar crash during your day, ( and who know what it does to your kid’s
teacher). Here are some quick tips to remedy both you and your son’s morning
routine:

Cereal Ratio: Think 5:5:10. This means make sure when you are
buying cereal that has at least 5 grams of Fiber, 5 grams of Protein and no
more than 10 grams of Sugar per serving. I also like to encourage you to
introduce some of the new Silk Almond
Milk and Silk Coconut Milk beverages into your cereal options. Not only do
they taste good, but also the Almond and Coconut Milk have more calcium and
protein in them than normal dairy milk.

Other things you can consider
adding to your cereal:

blackberries

For Brainpower: Add Dark Chocolate Chunks and Blackberries into
your cereal. Dark Chocolate and Black berries add flavonoids, which are
antioxidants that help aid memory

apples

Far Heart Health:
Add Sliced Almonds and Apples. Nuts like almonds contain magnesium and selenium
that may ward off heart disease. Apples provide pectin, a form of fiber that
helps ward off cholesterol.
