Introduction (Summary)

Family Safety is important to all families, and SingleDad.com and Lowe's share a video tutorial on how to install a dead bolt lock in your home.

Necessary Things:

  • Deadbolt lock
  • Screwdriver
  • Tape Measure or Ruler
  • A Square
  • A Pencil and Masking Tape
  • Drill and Driver Bits
  • Hole Saws ( If door has no mount)
  • Hammer & Chisel

Step 1:

This video is for the "wanna be" handy man.. Like me! I needed to replace my front door lock and I bought a "pre-packaged" set of locks. This video tutorial can apply to all types of doors ( Wood, Metal, and fiberglass)

Step 2:

It is important to note that when you go to Lowe's, make sure you explain to them the type of door you are replacing your lock with. There are different varieties of locks for the different locations of your house.

Step 3:

Since I was "replacing" an existing dead bolt, my job was over in under an hour. For more information and instruction to this video, go to your nearest Lowe's hardware store and they will provide "step by step" written instructions on this "How To"

Tips and Tricks:

  • Having a Lowe's Hardwae store nearby made my "questions and answer" sessions easier. This job was easier than I thought it would be.

Warnings:

  • This was my first time, and I was glad I was only replacing the lock and not having to drill holes!
