Happy New Year! 2010 will be a great year, I can just feel it! ;o)
Remember that if you 'Believe' that it will be a great year for you and your child then it 'Will Be!' Goal setting is not just about taking a piece of paper and writing down all the things you want to accomplish this year.
That's a great way to start for sure, but there is so much more to it than that. How many years have you said to yourself, "This year I'm going to..." and then you Don't? Don't feel bad, it's normal. That's what happens to most of us.
We sincerely intend to achieve our new years goals but then as the new year begins to grow older life happens and our goals get side-tracked and we see another new year looming towards us with no sign of our goals coming true. So we hope we'll be able to make them come true the next year instead.
Problem is that this just continues to repeat itself year after year, and will always do so until we finally have ENOUGH of the same old same old and decide to make a change to HOW we set our goals.
There really is a detailed process to goal setting that WILL make your goals come true. So keep that new years attitude for change fresh and alive, let's get started. I'm going to show you HOW to set your new years resolutions so that they WILL come true:
HOW TO SET GOALS TO THEY COME TRUE!
1. Make a list of the goals you intend to achieve for this new year.
2. Now write a letter beside each goal. You don't need to worry about order here.
3. Take a separate piece of paper and draw a horizontal line across it and number is 1 to 10. This will be your 'Goal-o-Meter'.
4. Now take the letter next to each of your goals and place it on your graph according to how important it is for you to accomplish that goal this year.
# 1= not important (you don't really care if you accomplish this goal)
# 10= top importance (you will not be able to live with yourself if you DON't accomplish this goal)
5. Now focus only on goals that are an '8' or higher on your 'Goal-o-Meter'. You need to be emotionally attached to your goal in order to make it come true. Anything under an '8' will not make you restless at night if you don't achieve it.
6. Take your top goal, the one closest to a '10' and get a new piece of paper. This is the most important step, don't skip over this one. This one is KEY! Write out your goal as if you have already accomplished it. Use only positive, present-tense words. Start with the words:
"I'm so happy and grateful now that I..."
Tip 1: Here's are some examples of how you can avoid negative wording in your goals:
A. Instead of "I have lost weight" write, "I am living in a slender, healthy, energetic body!"
B. Instead of "I have quit smoking" write, "I am breathing in healthy, clean, fresh air, I exude freshness, people love to be close to me."
Your subconscious mind takes your words literally. So 'lost weight' makes you mind start searching to 'find the weight', so making you ultimately 'heavier'!
Your subconscious mind takes your words 'stop smoking' and only hears 'smoking' so you continue to smoke.
On the other hand, if you say, 'living in a healthy body, breathing in fresh air' then you cannot possibly be gaining weight or continue smoking to get those end results.
Trust me these little things make a HUGE difference!
Tip 2: Use present tense words:
'I have' not 'I will have' if you say, 'will have' then you will always be in the 'will have' mode, which means your mind will always be looking for 'tomorrow' and as you know, 'tomorrow NEVER comes!'
Tip 3: make them as emotional as you can.
You need to literally be kept awake at night with your sincere excitement about accomplishing your goals, otherwise they will simply fade away into the 'great unknown'. Don't be the 'reason' why your goals die!
7. Now get out some magazines or go online and surf the web. Find photos that represent your dreams. Print them out, cut them out and paste them to a board, your 'goal board' or 'vision board' and put this somewhere where you are most likely to see it constantly during the day.
Some great places to place your photos:
- in the bathroom, let's face it we go there at least a few times each day. Stick them to your mirror or better yet, behind and in front of the toilet.
- on your fridge, cover it with your dreams, we all eat right?
- on the wall or ceiling over your bed. You may as well have your dreams be the last thing you see at night before you go to sleep and the first thing you are reminded of when you wake up in the morning.
- all around your desk, where you work all day long.
- as your back ground picture on your computer. Make a computer collage! ;o)
- as a slideshow, screensaver on your computer.
- on the dashboard of your car.
- anywhere else you can think of where you are likely to be constantly reminded of your goals.
8. Go one step further and create your very own 'moving vision board'. I use a special software that a friend of mine put together in Aussie that allows my dreams to move towards me on my computer all day long, subliminally, transparantly on top of all the work I do on my computer. It's incredible, over 75% of my 'moving vision board' have already come true.
Time for me to update it and think up some new goals. ;o)

9. Update your goals. When real estate agents sell houses, they don't tear down their 'for sale' signs right away, they first put a large 'SOLD' sign on it. Do the same with your vision board. Place a large 'ACCOMPLISHED!' Do this with green not red. Our minds associate red with 'stopping' and you don't want your goals to be stopping. ;o)
10. Add new goals to your list, check them against your 'Goal-o-Meter' and then write out what it will feel like the day you accomplish them.
11. Have FUN! ;o) We're talking about your goals here, this is a FUN thing, keep it FUN!
Tip: anytime you come up against 'well-meaning' loved ones who tell you that you can't possibly achieve your goals, or that your goals are 'unrealistic' just smile at them, thank them for their 'well meant' advice and then inwardly remind yourself, "when I have a choice, I choose to believe that I deserve my goals and I choose to know that my goals come true!" ;o)
One of the best books I've ever read on the topic of how to set goals so they come true is called 'The JackRabbit Factor' and is written by my friend, Leslie Householder.
It's written in the form a story, and I tell you, I stayed up all night reading it, I just couldn't bring myself to put it down, it's that good!

Here's to your fabulous 2010 where ALL your goals come true!
