Single Dad's Health Tip

From carpools to coaching, Dads are exposed to lots of germs every day. If you find yourself getting sick often, look for a multi-symptom cold and flu medication with both day and night formulations.

AT&T’s It Can Wait Campaign

AT&T’s latest commuter survey discovered that while most adults recognize the dangers of texting while driving, almost half of them still do it (49%). More so than teens (43%)! What once was considered more of a generational problem among teens, considering they send 5 times more text messages than adults, is really a much bigger issue for adults. In fact, 40% of adults even call it a “habit.”

SingleDad Summer

So from my past June Blog Post, my summer plans this year involve a few changes in my life. My oldest daughter has graduated high school and is heading off to college next month. My housing needs have down sized and I have found a smaller home to rent across town; and finally, I have a family vacation planned with my girlfriend and all six of us,  (2 Adults, 4 Kids) on a 9-Day Gulf Coast Tour through three states, (Alabama, New Orleans and Mississippi). Who can ask for anything more?

College, A Move, and Family Vacation

Life has different stages as a parent. Sometimes, I wish I can ask for a re-run as a parent to my three children growing up. It seems that my early fatherhood moments went a little too fast. My oldest daughter is now 18 and heading off to college in a couple months. I can still remember spending my afternoon sunsets on the beaches of San Diego with her and our trusted Australian Shepard, Ellie. My daughter Alexa is beautiful, intelligent woman who I know is ready to take on college and face the rest that the real world has to offer her. She is confident and ready to start her college adult life; and it’s tearing me apart on the insides watching her start her next chapter in life.

Safe

However, I feel pretty good about her upcoming move to college. I know that I have taken the necessary steps to make sure she is in a safe and secure environment. Her new bicycle that she will be using on campus is equipped with a Master Lock Python 6’ Cable Lock, which assures me that she has the best security to keep her bike from being stolen. In addition, I have given my daughter the SafeSpace Portable Safe for her to store her smartphone and other valuables in her dorm room. This portable safe is ideal for temporary living quarters, such as dorm rooms or when she travels abroad. Overall, next month in August will be a new beginning for both my daughter and I and I feel confident that this transition is going to be good for both of us.

My pending move…

House hunting has not been fun this summer. There is a housing shortage in San Diego and most of the available rentals in the area are older homes. These homes have fewer security options than the newer homes and I am glad that I have the resources of Master Lock available. I have found a home that is less than 10 miles from my current residence and I am happy to say that I am 10 miles closer to the ocean. This house is a little older than I was hoping, but I am also footsteps to some of the best Mountain biking trails in San Diego.  With that said, I have equipped my new residence with the Master Lock Door Security Bar.

I am new to the neighborhood and I want to make sure that my family is safe.  Knowing that I have these locks on my doors at night, gives me the added comfort while I adjust to my new environment. I plan on repainting a few of the rooms and make some additional changes to the overall security of this home in the coming months. As for now, I have a daily after dinner game with my family. The game is called, “Unpack Box a Night”, which means each of my three family members has the duty of unpacking at least one more moving box and begin the process of settling into our new home. Sometimes you have to create a game to get to the desired result.

Family Vacation

My summer family vacation this year is going to be special. I am joining up with my girlfriend who is taking her daughter to visit her family back home in the Gulf Coast. That’s right, my ‘West Coast Family’ is going to receive some Southern Hospitality and visit Mississippi, Louisiana, and the Alabama Coast. This nine-day trip is going to involve three different layovers in hotels and keeping our entire luggage and belongings safe between hotels and family events are a priority. There is nothing worse then stopping a vacation short with a lost or stolen item and I am grateful to have Master Lock as a security resource to keep my worries at a minimum.

Each of the four kids will have Master Lock Backpack Locks as well as an individual Luggage Lock to secure their luggage in between flights. We are also taking along our SafeSpace Portable Safe to hold our personal belongings in the hotel rooms during our stay. Having this added security keep my stress levels down during our trip. Moving six family members for nine days can be pretty taxing on your nerves, but I know I will have some stress relief with Master Lock security products.

I am looking forward to sharing more stories next of our trip and how Master Lock played a part in our summer family vacation to the Gulf Coast.
