Single Dad's Health Tip

From carpools to coaching, Dads are exposed to lots of germs every day. If you find yourself getting sick often, look for a multi-symptom cold and flu medication with both day and night formulations.

AT&T’s It Can Wait Campaign

AT&T’s latest commuter survey discovered that while most adults recognize the dangers of texting while driving, almost half of them still do it (49%). More so than teens (43%)! What once was considered more of a generational problem among teens, considering they send 5 times more text messages than adults, is really a much bigger issue for adults. In fact, 40% of adults even call it a “habit.”

Single Dad Summer Blog:  Live Secure Safety Squad

This summer is not going to be like most; I have a few changes in my household.  First is my plan to move and downsize my living arrangements. Secondly, my oldest daughter is leaving for college this summer and I need to make sure she is going to be in a safe and secure environment.

A little background on myself; I have been a Single Parent to a family of three children for over 12 years and now and my oldest daughter is graduating high school this week. I would tell you that I am excited, but I am not. In fact, I want a “Rerun” on my last 12 years of my life with her. It’s not that I am living in regret, it’s just that as a divorced dad, I feel like the time went by too fast and I have way too many things that I still want to say and do with my daughter. I must admit that “letting go” is very hard to do…

My Family

Life in Transition…

Balancing my career and home life as a single parent has not been easy. Having joint custody makes the 182 days that I had every year made me realize how much more valuable my family time has been. This summer, I am now faced with two major changes going on in my life. The first is sending my daughter off to college. This university is an “out of town” college and I want to make sure that she is in a safe and secure environment.  She will be living on campus, but there are still many more things I need to do to make to make sure she will be safe when I’m not around.  Like every concerned parent, I want to make sure I give her the best advice and resources on keeping her personal items and space secure.

Secondly, is my choice to downsize my housing this summer. I have now made the decision to find a home that will better fit my current housing and family needs. I have a son who is 16 and my youngest daughter who is 12.  I’m looking to rent a home that is still close to my children’s schools and is also in a safe and secure neighborhood. Security is important to me and I am about to realize how important it is by having a loved one enter college out of town this summer and finding a new place for my downsizing family to live. I have lived in the same neighborhood for the past 5 years and I am feeling that this change in address and family size is a bit overwhelming and scary, but part of life.

Things that are on my mind when it comes to security are the following:

Things my daughter needs going to college:

  •  Bike Lock
  • Safe
  • Door Locks
  • Back Pack Locks
  • Hide a Key Storage
  • Dorm Safety

Things I need at my new home:

  • Door Locks
  • Sliding Door Lock
  • Window Locks
  • Document Storage Safety
  • Hide a House Key for my two kids

Live Secure Safety Squad

The timing of these changes of my life couldn’t have come at a better time. I recently signed up as a guest blogger with Master Lock and became part of their Live Secure Safety Squad. I will be writing about my upcoming changes in my family life and how I will depend on Master Lock and their variety of security products and resources.

As I go through these changes, I will blog about the use and experience with Master Lock and how their products have helped me through this family transition. I am looking forward to sharing my life as this new chapter in my life unfolds…
