Introduction (Summary)
SingleDad.com member, Richard "RJ" Jaramillo and his daughter Mia Jaramillo share thier love of Art and painting at home.
Necessary Things:
- Art Easel or a makeshift stand
- Paint.. Mis prefers acrylics
- Paint brushes
- 12"X 18" Paint Pad
- Area in Garage with a drop cloth
- Creativity
Step 1:
I am not a good painter, but I have found as much love and joy painting as I do when I am reading a good book! Painting is something that you can just allow yourself to escape into your own thoughts and creativity. It's not a measure of perfection, but the joy you find making something as unique as yourself. I have found a way to bring painting back in my family. I am very blessed to have all three children who share a little bit of all my passions. I have my oldest daughter who loves sports and music... I have my son who is my fishing and golfing buddy... and then there's Mia...My Cooking Partner and Artist!
Step 2:
The attached video was all Mia's idea. She wanted to make it to show other SingleDad family members how fun and easy it is to paint. I was busy in the kitchen when this video was shot and I came in and out of the picture to check on her progress and continue the dialog. As you can see in the video, my daughter has quite a creative mind and personality! I hope this video will spark other members to set aside some room and give this a try at home. Most of the items we picked up on this video were at a local craft store called, "Michael's". Almost all of the items were inexpensive and we still have more supplies for more paintings! Enjoy!
Tips and Tricks:
- Keep a "drop cloth" under the easel and make sure to clean your brushes after each use
Warnings:
- Painting is not just for school work, it is a great way to expore and encourage our children's creativity at home!
