Introduction (Summary)

Parenting Tech Gadgets brought to you by SingleDad contributor, David Shorb and Mindtechnica.blogspot.com David shares the latest parenting tool to keep an eye on your children, called the Little Buddy GPS

Necessary Things:

  • The Little Buddy GPS Device

Step 1:

Lets face it. The world is a lot more scary then it use to be when we where younger. Well Thankfully we are in the 21st century, and we have GPS. BesyBuy is selling a little GPS Device that will fit in Little Johnny and Sally's Backpack called the Little Buddy.

Step 2:

The Little Buddy is a GPS Device that is designed with Parental monitoring in mind. So when Little Johnny or Sally go over to their friends house, or to school, or on a field trip, you will have the peace of mind of knowing where your child(ren) are at, at any time. You can Currently get this device at Besy Buy for around 99 bucks.

Step 3:

The Little Buddy allows you the Parent to view where your kids are at from a PC, Smartphone (i.e. iPhone or G1), It will send a Text message when your child leaves a designated area which you can define, for example Johnny should be in school from 8 am to 4 pm, however you receive a text message letting you know that Johnny has left school early, and went to the store down the street to get some candy. The Little Buddy will let you know when the battery is getting low.

Step 4:

As I have mentioned many times before I use the Android OS on my HTC G1. Well one of the Applications I use on my phone is called Glympse. If you need your kid(s) to check in with you this is the app i would recommend. This is exspecially useful for the Parent with the freshly licensed teen. Now you should know that this app lives up to its name in that it just offers a Glympse during a specified time frame. ranging anywhere from 5 minutes to up to 4 hours depending on your needs. You can send a Glympse to any email and they are expanding the device compatible list all the time. Currently it is available on the Android OS, the iPhone, and Window Mobile.

Step 5:

So there are just a couple of options for keeping track of your kids, and their traveling shenanigans.

Step 6:
