SingleDad Dating Q&A: Small World?

My name is Steve and I am a 42-year old Divorced Dad with
full-time custody of my 11-year old son. I have been divorced just over a year
and I started dating. I am a member to a couple internet dating sites and so
far I have had a lot of fun meeting women and going out on dates when the time
permits.

I had a strange incident that I want to share and ask for
your advice. This past month, I met a woman who was a Real Estate Agent and we
hit it off great on our first date. The reason why I mentioned her career is
because during our date, she had asked me in conversation if I had met any
other Real Estate Agents. At the time, (we were both a little tipsy from the
Wine) she had brought up a name that I later recognized. I didn’t want to spoil
the evening, but I actually had met and dated a colleague of hers and I did not
say anything about it.

I feel awful
about it and I want to find a way to bring this up before she discovers the
fact with her co-worker. Do you have any advice on how to "Clean this mess"?

Hey Steve,

Small World, isn’t it? Well my friend, I got a few tips to share about this
subject. First off, timing is everything, so I hope not too much time has
fallen between you and your incident. Cleaning up your mess has a lot to do
with the timing of your incident. The sooner you recognize your fault, the
better it appears to the woman. So jump on the phone and offer an apology.

Secondly, I just want to remind you that ALL women are
smart
. Chances are that she only asked this question because she probably
already "scouted" you and discussed your profile to your previous date and her
colleague at work. Now if this is the case, all I can say is good luck and wear
ear plugs because you might be in for a long-winded message from your date.

Either way;
stay classy, be accurate, be sincere and most of all; be accountable and you
should come out of this in one piece.
