Dad Grooming Guide: End of Summer Polo Shirt
One of the most important transitions for every Divorced Dad
is the Fashion & Grooming Makeover. SingleDad offers Men’s Fashion, Style
and Grooming Article Advice for Divorced Dads. This month, learn how to buy the
end of summer Polo shirt.
Dad Grooming Guide: End of Summer Polo Shirt
My name is Dale and I am Divorced Dad in his early 40’s and
I would like some suggestions on different types of Polo shirts I can wear
without looking too trendy this summer. What can a Dad pull off?
Just remember, the first step is finding your own "Dad Style
Groove". I picked three categories for you to choose from and see which is best
for you. Not all Polo’s fit or look the same, so make sure you know your body
type so you can take "Dad Fashion" to the next level.
It is also important to know what you will be wearing with
your Polo shirt because there are many combinations to dress up or down this
wardrobe basic. Shorts or Chinos? Shoes or Sandals? Socks or no Socks. These
decisions will come later, but don’t forget the key to Dad Fashion is to not
let the clothes wear you, but for you to wear the clothes well…enjoy!
Ralph Lauren Polo
The iconic brand that is as American as apple pie has a
variety of stripes and colors this summer. For Dads, you need to find the
balance between the right color and pattern. Navy is always a safe choice for
the conservative look. This color can be dressed down or up depending on shorts
or slacks. The Ralph Lauren line of polo shirts is a bit on the
sophisticated-look so beware. If you feel overwhelmed choosing a polo with a
lot of color or pattern; go with a basic solid and you can’t go wrong. It’s all
in the logo. Prices start at $90

Golf Polo Shirts: Nike / Adidas / Puma
If you are looking for a more athletic cut and look, choose
a fitted golf shirt from Nike, Addidas or Puma. These brands are very popular
right now using a variety of colors and patterns. An added benefit to these
shirts is the technology behind the fabrics used in these shirts. Sweat
absorbing, SPF protection and a variety of stuff that I don’t even know how to
explain goes into making these shirts. That also explains the pricing behind
some of these polo’s…
Puma has been made famous with their sponsorship of PGA tour
Golfer, Ricky Fowler. Ricky’s, "Orange is the new Black" Sunday look has
brought a whole new color this summer. These shirts are designed for a more
confident and self-assured Dad. Prices start at: $75 Visit Puma.com
Move over Tiger, it’s Rory’s turn in the spotlight. Nike has
a similar line of bold patterns and prints on their golf shirt line for 2014.
Look for common themes using bright neon colors mixed with traditional hues of
purple and blue mixed in. They have both "fitted and regular" cut shirt
patterns, so make sure to match your style and body build. Prices start at: $65 Visit: Nike.com
Addidas is popular golf brand that mixes European style into
their US golf apparel line. These shirts are more "fitted" than the other two
rivals so make sure you have the right cut and fit for your physic. You never
want to look like "Fat Man in a little suit" look, so move up one size unless
you have the abs and biceps to match the fit. Prices start at $85. Visit Addidas Golf
The Yacht club look is always present when you wear a
Nautica polo. These shirts have established a unique look and never go out of
style with their traditional blend of colors and patterns. If you go with a
striped, Nautica polo: choose a thick stripe and avoid vertical stripe patterns
because they will make you look two sizes bigger than you really are. Prices start at $49 Nautica.com
The end of summer polo is all about comfort and style.
Go big and bold or stay cool and simple; there are a variety of polo shirts
that will fit any Dad’s style and budget.
