As
we grow older, there are a lot of places on our body that Dads need to do a
better job ‘Manscaping’. SingleDad
has your tips and all the tools you need to tame the wild, hairy parts of your
body. Dad Grooming 101

Back to Back

Make
sure you keep a routine on keeping your back hair under control; especially if
you are one of those Dads that has a hairy back. Using a hair trimmer on the lowest setting keeps your hair
in check. Move the trimmer against the grain of the hair to get the best
results. If you are solo on this project, (no girlfriend or one of your kids to
help? ) hold a hand mirror in one hand and the trimmer in the other; use short,
upward strokes with the trimmer. The Remington trimmer has an extended arm for
the hard to reach spots on your back.

Excessive
back hair promotes body heat, sweating, and unwanted body odor. Too many guys
with hairy backs counter the sweating with excessive cologne and then smell
like a Department store fragrance counter. Do yourself a favor and trim down
the back hair and avoid the gorilla look.

Shaved Head

The
shaved head is no longer the ‘Rogue Look’ but more of a confidence statement
for the man who is no longer ‘Living the Lie’ with his hair loss. Make sure you
keep the latest shaving tools like the HeadBlade Sport Razor and follow the
best shaving techniques on keeping your look ‘tight’. After showering, massage
preshave oil onto your scalp and follow with shave cream. To properly shave
your head, divide your shaving areas in quadrants. Start your shave on the
front area of your head. For the back section of your head, use the same hand
held mirror and work the remaining areas. Finish your shave with an aftershave
balm to sooth any irritation.

Pain in my Neck…

Neck
hair varies on Men. Hopefully for you, it’s just maintenance that is required
and not an every day battle with your back hair turning into neck foliage. It’s important to keep this hair in
check because too much neck hair can make any hairstyle look sloppy and
un-kept. The best technique I found is to include this trim when shaving your
face. Take a light dose of shaving cream and apply to the back of our neck and
use the same, multi-blade razor and start at the base of the neck and make
short upward strokes. Short stokes will keep you from cutting into your hairline.

Tools:
Razor or Trimmer Lowest Setting, Handheld mirror

Once a Week

Moobs- Man
Boobs and Chest Hair

Keeping
your chest hair around a half-inch long in between the pectorals of your chest
is a good rule of thumb. Random nipple hair and rogue patches are not a welcome
sight to most women; so keep those areas trimmed down with your trimmer on the
lowest setting. Trimmed is fine, shaving is too much work and makes you look a
little too ‘Metro’.

Tools:
Hair Clipper / Trimmer on Lowest setting

2-3 weeks

Nose Hair-
Nothing Worse.

Long,
protruding nose hair has got to be the all time ‘turn offs’ that Men can cause
on their first impression with women. The bad news guys is that it doesn’t get easier as you get
older. Nose hair keeps growing all your life. You need nose hair to keep dirt
from getting into your mucous membrane. Your nose hair will not go away either,
so you better get into a routine of keeping it from leaking onto your
face. Simply take your finger and
press the tip of your nose back, gently squeezing your nostrils up. You will
see the excess hair, and when you do this technique, it allows you easy access
for your nose hair trimmer.
