I went to my first baseball game when I was about two years old. My father is one of the biggest baseball fans I have ever met. He's one of those guys who can remember the stats of every guy who ever played the game. He can wax poetic about all things baseball. He was in attendance at County Stadium when Hank Aaron hit his 755th (and last) home run for the Brewers.
I grew up about an hour away from Milwaukee, so by default, I was always a fan of the Milwaukee Brewers. My dad was lucky enough to have Thursdays off and we'd go every week and sit in the cheap seats (the best for die hard fans in my opinion). I loved Milwaukee County Stadium. It almost felt like a sort of home away from home. I felt special that it was my home stadium. I loved that the awesome Hank Aaron set records there, that Nolan Ryan did too. I loved their brats, the best stadium food in Major League Baseball. As a kid, when home runs weren't so ordinary, I thought Bernie Brewer sliding into his beer mug was fantastic. The sausage races were (and still are) pretty awesome too. The movie Major League is extra special to me. Not just because it is a great baseball movie, but because to me, it's as much about County Stadium and Bob Uecker and all the things that make Milwaukee awesome.
Now the Brewers play at Miller Park, which is a totally cool place, but I'm still getting used to it. It is great for the team and for baseball, but old habits die hard.
Being a fan of a team that isn't a perpetual contender can be tough. You know the Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, and Phillies are usually going to be in the hunt. But the Brewers usually struggle, and that's okay. True fandom isn't concerned with such things.
I happened to marry a Twins fan, so to keep the peace, we are kind to each other and follow each other's teams to a certain extent. Over the years, I have also developed an affinity for the Tigers. I guess I'm just a fan of the game. But the Brewers will always be my first love.
From the founder of Baseball Beauties:
For those of you who are not yet familiar with Baseball Beauties, in a nutshell we are "Community and Commentary for the Female Fan" our goal is to be the #1 website for women to go to for everything baseball related! I realize that's an ambitious goal, but we're slowly getting there.
With the 2010 season approaching quickly Baseball Beauties are excited to welcome new writers and new Beauties. I'm also looking forward to sharing different articles and our featured Beauty of the month with SingleDads.com this season.
Every month we feature and new Beauty; please keep in mind that we DON'T use models, all of our Beauties are REAL women who love and know baseball. They all have different stories about their love of the game.
Stay tuned and please feel free to share your ideas and give us suggestions!
