Introduction (Summary)
This month, Learn how to make a simple weekend into a special moment with the use of “Travel Couponsâ€
Necessary Things:
- Index Cards
- Markers
- Creativity
Step 1:
So, I have the type of parents that anyone can identify with. It seems that anything I want to give them or buy for them, they just seem to never use. They are the type of parents that have everything, so it is very difficult to buy gifts for them. So what does a Son do? It took me a while to figure this one out, but I think I have uncovered a great idea to share with all of you.
Step 2:
A few months back, I posted my video blog about my Single Parent Vacation Board and how I like to plan a special vacation with each of my children, plus a trip with my parents. I had designed a special way to maximize the quality of my time with the people I love the most. My parents travel plans with me had to incorporate local travel. I live in a small town in San Diego County called Poway. I decided to make my hometown, a vacation destination for my parents. Nobody will ever argue about San Diego being one of the best places to visit. Our year around weather is perfect and we have the best varieties of beaches, deserts and mountains. We have beautiful downtown, lively restaurants, and a great night life. My parents only live an hour away, so here is what I did to make the most out of a weekend.
Step 3:
Travel Coupons. I took a bunch of standard Index cards and colored markers and turned the cards into “travel couponsâ€. Each coupon had a different location and activity that they would experience with me in San Diego. The idea was for me to show them the “other side†of San Diego that I love so much. Whether it was my favorite pizza, dessert house or view of the city…there was a coupon for them to redeem and experience something new with their son. We had a great time together and some memories to last a lifetime. My parents still have a few left over coupons to exchange with me on their next visit and I can’t wait to create more coupons for them.
Step 4:
I have a Single Dad Diary video blog to share with you on my special weekend with my parents and I hope you will try this activity with your parents or loved ones and get as much joy out of it as I did…
