The Perfect Fathers Day Gift

As Father’s
Day fast approaches, SingleDad had the opportunity to experience the perfect
Father’s Day Gift. The story begins with a couple tickets to the Stanley Cup
Finals and a 2014 Can-Am Spyder.

It’s about the Cup: The Stanley Cup

What could
be a better Father’s Day gift? Stanley Cup Hockey in Southern California. The
Los Angeles Kings took on the New York Rangers for the Stanley Cup Final and my
lady bought a couple of tickets for Game #2 in Los Angeles. As a die-hard
hockey fan from Southern California, I was ready to cheer my Kings on and make
this Father’s Day one to remember.

My hockey
tickets were purchased on StubHub and turned out to be perfect seats at a
reasonable price. I say reasonable, because I had learned that this year’s
"East Coast / West Coast" rivalry match up had hit record ticket prices. In
fact, there was a recent post on the internet showing how it was "cheaper for a
New York Fan to buy game tickets and a round trip flight to Los Angeles than to
buy a ticket at Madison Square Garden.

As for me, I
hit the road for Saturday’s Game 2 in Los Angeles. One traveling tip for anyone
making the drive out to Staples Center in downtown LA: adjust your travel time
around traffic. There were several places along the drive from San Diego to LA
where our freeway traffic was stuck in a standstill. This 80-mile stretch
normally takes around two hours, but on this weekend drive; it was well over
three.

What made
this road trip bearable was my mode of transportation. You see, PART 2 of my
Father’s Day Gift was driving a brand now, 2014 Can-Am Spyder RTS up to LA.

It’s About the Ride: 2014 Can-Am Spyder

The Can-Am
Spyder is the perfect vehicle for my weekend road trip to watch the Stanley
Cup. I was given the opportunity
to test ride a Spyder for a 30-days and my first trial began on my trip to Los
Angeles.

The Can-Am
Spyder
is like nothing else you have ever seen. It drives like car, but
accelerates like a motorcycle. My Can-Am Spyder was the 2014 "RTS" model; which
is a touring package with 6-speed semi-automatic transmission, a passenger seat
and plenty of storage to make my overnight trip easy.

Like all
open-air motor vehicles, it is important to wear all safety equipment including
helmet, riding jacket and covered toe shoes. The Can-Am Spyder is agile and
quick, but you should note that turning in this vehicle is different and not
like a motorcycle where you use your weight and counter balance through turns.
This vehicle requires you to use your arms and turn the handle bars in the
direction of your turn, (no counter steering). In addition, there are several
options for suspension settings, (Hard to Soft), so make sure you adjust your
setting to your road and speed conditions. When it came to long trips such as
mine from San Diego to LA; I used a softer setting for the freeway driving to
be comfortable for both driver and passenger.

What’s on your Bucket List?

For some
dads like me, I have always set goals in my life when it comes to different
stages of fatherhood. First was owning a home. Second was giving all three of
my children access to the best education possible. My job and career has given
me the opportunity to put money aside for college and I am now at that stage
where my family size is shrinking. My oldest is now a sophomore in college,
while my son is heading to college this fall. My youngest will begin High
School at the end of this summer and life is good. Everything is in place and
now is the time for me to enjoy my Bucket List.

For me, the
next dream is now enjoying my weekends on my Can-Am Spyder. I feel safer
driving this vehicle than a motorcycle and I must admit; I like getting the
long stares and smiles when I am on the road with my Spyder. I have only seen a
couple on the road so far, and I like the fact that it has such a unique look
and feel. The Can-Am Spyder delivers on my dream of having a second vehicle to
ride for the fun of it. Owning one is as easy as riding one. In California, you
do not need a M1 motorcycle license. The Can-Am Spyder is classified as a car
and therefore a car license is only license required.

If you are
thinking of setting your next goal; dream big and ride a Can-Am Spyder.#CanAMSpyder, #RideASpyder,

The Perfect Father’s Day Gift

As the Kings
won Game 2 in Double Overtime fashion, the rest of my weekend was spent driving
my Can-Am Spyder back to San Diego to end a perfect pre- Father’s Day
experience. I spent the night in a beautiful sleepy town called, San Clemente.
This laid back town has the best of both worlds; far enough away from
everything, but just close enough to drive home. A great breakfast on the pier
and I was on my way…

Happy
Fathers Day from SingleDad.
