A Natural Approach To Heart Disease

Heart disease is the number one cause of death for men in the United States. What if you could treat the underlying cause naturally or even prevent the disease all together?

One thing that I like about mainstream medicine is that it has
an uncanny ability to gather a lot of information. As an acupuncturist and practitioner of
holistic medicine we agree that the collection of information is
essential. Where our opinions differ is
on what happens once the information is gathered. You may not know, but there are certainly
alternatives out there to the mainstream method of medicating heart
disease. You will find that the
alternatives are often safer, more protective in the long run, and aimed
squarely at fixing the underlying problem rather than just applying a band aid
or fixing a lab report rather than the person.

In the field of acupuncture, or more precisely Traditional
Chinese Medicine, many different tools are used to aid in the healing of a
patient. Acupuncture and herbal medicine
is the backbone of the system though and can be applied to very many different
medical conditions.

With respect to heart disease in particular, I would have to
say that acupuncture can be applied very well to both regulate heart function
and decrease overall stress levels. And
stress, as you know, is the big killer.
It leads to most all of our modern medical problems. Improve the way that the body responds to
stress and you can do wonders for your heart disease prognosis. Many Chinese herbs are also known to aid in
heart protection. Hawthorn berry for
example, or Shan Zha in Chinese, can lower cholesterol and help with fat
metabolism. Including herbs like this
into a daily regimen as well as watching out for the bad stuff and increasing
aerobic activity can more times than not be your ticket out of the mainstream
mindset. And as you saw in my first article
on heart disease, that system allows for a roughly 50% mortality rate. Numbers like that should be all that you need
to look for more options.
