How A Suit Influences Thoughts and Behavior

How you think indirectly
affects what others think of you. No need to launch into a motivational speech;
you know when you feel better about yourself that others can tell – and
reciprocate. Consciously or not, many associate suits with those who are more
capable or more willing to make and follow through with difficult decisions –
the successful people of the world. We can (and should!) take it upon ourselves
to feel good.

Your personal and professional
reputation is tied to how you dress. Being the best dressed in the room makes
it easier to get your opinion heard. There are many examples of how a conscious
effort to dress well at work can almost immediately change how your peers
perceive you. Your suit can express your personality, confidence, and
individual style. And you’re familiar with the timeless mantra: "Dress for the
job you want, not the job you have."

So whether you already own a suit or not, resolve today to
wear one more often. If you don’t have one, get one that is made for
you- and wear it. You’ll look better, you’ll feel better and you’ll
command the respect of your friends and peers. So the best answer to the
question "Why wear a suit?’ is another question: Why not?
