Guide: Communicate With Cologne

One of the most important transitions for every Divorced Dad
is the Mens Fashion & Grooming Makeover. This month, we talk about using
colognes to communicate who you are.

Style and Grooming
Guide: Communicate With Cologne

Dear Single Dad,

My name is Travis and I live in Dallas, Texas. At 49 years old, I’m finding myself
single again after 20 years of marriage.
My 14-year old son is telling me I need to get back in the game instead
of sitting around feeling lonely all the time. The problem is, it’s been quite awhile since I’ve been out
on a date and I’m out of the loop when it comes to what today’s standards of
grooming are. My son tells me a
good place to start is by getting a nice cologne that won’t repel the
ladies. Do you have any good
suggestions on any nice smelling and not lady repelling colognes?

Signed Back In The Game

Dear Back In the Game,

Attract the Ladies With Your Scent

Your son is right.
A nice smelling cologne will definitely help to not only attract the
ladies, but make the one you are on the date with want to get closer to
you. In fact, a bottle of
cologne might not seem like that big of a deal, but it could be one of your
most important purchases.

That
being said, it’s important to not just wear cologne for the sake of wearing
cologne but finding one that actually smells good on you. Not only that but spraying on the right
amount matters too.

Don’t Overpower With
Your Cologne

Woman Turned Off By Smell

Even if you do have a scent that works well with you,
spraying on too much can put an invisible shield around you acting like a
repellent and sending the message don’t get too close to me or my scent will
knock you unconscious. What you
are emanating can provide subtle clues to what you’re all about.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had a man walk by me
and his cologne smell is so strong I almost trip over myself trying to get out
of his smell space. It’s an
instant turn off and tells me he’s trying to hard or doesn’t have a clue how to
wear cologne subtlety.

Choosing A Cologne

First of all, you should know that colognes come in a wide
variety of scents. From citrusy to
earthy, the scent of your cologne says a lot about you and will appeal to a
certain type of woman.

Playful

Dior Homme

If she’s playful and light-hearted type, go with a citrus
smell. This will help to keep
things fun and lighten the mood.
Dior Homme Eau for men is the perfect cologne for keeping things cheery.

Mature

Paco Rabanne Invictus

Want to show her that you that you are well seasoned and
will bring life experience to the table?
Go for a more muskier scent like Paco Rabanne Invictus Eau De
Toilette.

Sexy

Prada Luna Rossa

Ready to get your Casanova on? Get her heart rate soaring with Prada’s Luna Rossa Extreme
Eau De Parfum.

To appeal to a variety of women, get a variety of
colognes. They are well worth the
investment and will help you get back in the game sooner than later.
