As responsibilities grow, time and freedom often dwindle. Time goes away, or we lose track of it; and freedom is limited to the bathroom or the car ride to work. Our schedule is filled with so many play-dates, doctors appointments and work, we barely have time for ourselves, let alone anyone else. The days of going down the river on a raft with a six pack and your buddies are long gone. Chances are, most of your friends are settling down with their own children (and marriages). It happens so fast; one minute you’re choking on a beer-bong, the next you’re cleaning a diaper in the backseat of a car, in a Walmart parking lot, hands covered in poop, sweating bullets, running late for an appointment you don’t even care about and the thought of catching a movie with your (used-to-be) best friend is the last thing on your mind!

Well, you don’t have to sever your ties just yet. There are ways of keeping in touch; it’s just a little trickier than the college years.

Explain to your friends you want to see them more but are in a scheduling slump. The friends with kids will understand and the ones without will have to suck it up and saver their precious time with you when possible. Before online communities, people forgot about friends as they got older and never saw them again. You don’t have to do that anymore!

Who says you have to give up your friends for responsibility? There are plenty of people out there that have busier schedules than you and still keep close contact with their friends. It’s possible to live your life, get everything you need to get done in a day and tell your buddies about it later. Get a planner, get a baby sitter once in a while and have some good old fashion, beer ridden-sports watchin’ fun!
